FAQ

What is the source and quality control process for your recycled pellets?

We specialize in transforming post-consumer waste into high-value raw materials. Our process begins with manually sorted bales of clear/mixed LDPE film or PP hessian sacks. This material undergoes a rigorous, multi-stage process including crushing, an extensive environmentally-friendly wash, spin-drying, and precision screening through a 12/72 Hollander system. The result is a clean, consistent, and pelletized product ready for your production line, with strict quality control at every stage.

What is the standard packaging and shipping configuration for an order?

To ensure your product arrives in perfect condition, we pack all our pellets in new 25kg hessian bags. These are palletized onto brand new wooden pallets, with each pallet weighing 1,500kg (60 bags). For shipping, we optimally load 1,004 bags into a 20ft container. The bags are loaded “loose” (not palletized) within the container to maximize space and minimize shipping costs for you. The extra 4 bags (100kg) are included as a standard goodwill gesture to account for any potential minimal moisture loss or settling during transit, guaranteeing you receive the full weight you pay for.

Are your pellets ready to use, or do they require additives?

Our pellets are engineered to be used directly in most applications. However, for optimal performance in specific use cases, minor additives may be recommended. For instance, our LDPE film grades (LDC & LDM) may require up to 2% desiccant for easier processing, and LDM may need 1-2% black masterbatch for complete opacity. Our PP Injection Grade typically requires no additives but can be combined with masterbatch for colour. We are happy to advise on the best formulation for your needs.

What is the primary application for each of your pellet grades?
  • LDC (Smokey Pellets): Ideal for extruding heavier micron (60+), see-through films and tubing, such as packaging for rolled goods.

  • LDM (Grey Pellets): Formulated for heavy-duty, non-transparent films like roof sheeting, dam liners, and construction membranes (100+ micron).

  • PPBB (Grey Pellets): Designed for injection molding robust products like buckets, basins, crates, and plastic furniture.

What are the key advantages of sourcing recycled polymers from SA Polymers compared to local or other international suppliers?

Sourcing from SA Polymers offers a powerful combination of cost efficiency and resilient supply chain benefits that provide a distinct competitive edge:

  • Significant Cost Savings: Our location in South Africa provides international buyers with a major advantage due to the favorable exchange rate. You gain access to high-quality, certified recycled polymers at a significantly lower cost per ton, directly improving your profit margins and product competitiveness.

  • Consistent Quality from a Established Source: We are not a broker; we are primary processors. We control the entire production chain—from sourcing raw post-consumer material to pelletizing—ensuring consistent quality, reliable volumes, and traceability you can count on, order after order.

  • Supply Chain Diversification: In an era of global uncertainty, diversifying your suppliers is crucial. Adding a reliable South African partner to your supply chain reduces risk and provides a stable, alternative source for essential raw materials, insulating your business from regional disruptions.

  • Ethical & Environmental Impact: By partnering with us, you are directly supporting green initiatives and job creation in South Africa. Your purchase advances the global circular economy, allowing you to meet sustainability targets and appeal to environmentally conscious consumers with a truly impactful story.

In short, we offer more than just pellets; we offer a strategic partnership that makes both financial and ethical sense for your business.

I have plastic waste material. Do you only sell pellets, or can you help with recycling equipment?

In addition to premium recycled polymers, we are also suppliers of affordable and robust state-of-the-art baling machines. If you are looking to manage your own plastic waste stream or start a recycling operation, please contact us separately to discuss our baling equipment solutions.
